Alicate was founded in the late eighties by lead singer Jonas Erixon and bassist Fredrik Ekberg. In the early years, they mainly played local venues, but were able to release a 7" single called "The End/Too Shy To Take It", which is now a collectors item. In 2006, the band reformed and began working on new material, which led to their first album "World Of Anger" from 2009.
The success of this album and the popularity of their concerts led to the release of their second album "Free Falling" in 2013. Their third full-length album, "Unforgiven To Be Forgiven", followed in 2018 along with a live EP called "Live At Forum".
Then Covid put the band's creativity on hold. However, Jonas Erixon was still writing songs and working with some high-profile artists and co-wrote/co-wrote songs for Giant, Skills (with Billy Sheehan and Brad Gillis) and Sweet Oblivion (Geoff Tate).
During the pandemic, work also began on new material. The band was looking for a further development of their last album that would lead to a "concentrated" version of the band and add even more hooks to the songs.
Four years after the release of their last album, Alicate return at their best. "Butterfly" consists of 10 high-octane tracks, hard rock with a large dose of melodies.
