The band was founded by Tatu Hanhikoski (guitar, programming, composer) as a personal outlet in a moment of crisis. Originally conceived as a studio project, Canvas of Silence evolved into a full band with the arrival of Jaakko Puusaari (guitar, vocals), Mikael Minkkinen (bass) and Iiro Vuori (drums). Each member played a vital role in shaping the final sound, bringing years of experience from other Finnish rock and metal acts. Their chemistry is evident in the organic dynamics of the album.

“As The World Tree Fell” was recorded in multiple Finnish studios and produced by Tatu Hanhikoski, Jaakko Puusaari and Joonatan Jaakonaho (who also handled mixing duties). The album was mastered by Miro Kiiski at MIRO MASTERING. The visual artwork, crafted by Kim Kupiainen, further amplifies the album’s central concept, portraying the moment of collapse with beauty and mystery.
Early singles “Drown”, “One With the Wind” and “Humanimal” have already introduced the project’s emotional range and musical complexity, gaining praise from prog and metal communities alike.
