“Inveteratus” marks the debut full-length release from In Limine, a new project spearheaded by Italian guitarist and composer Matteo Galimberti. Known for his previous work with Cripple Bastards (2012–2018) and the depressive black metal band Apostolum, Galimberti now returns with a record that condenses years of writing, personal reflection and stylistic exploration into a cohesive and striking artistic statement.
Musically rooted in thrash and death metal, “Inveteratus” expands far beyond genre conventions, incorporating shades of metalcore, post-rock and melancholic melodies. The result is a tense, abrasive, yet emotionally nuanced album, brought to life through a powerful performance by world-renowned drummer George Kollias (Nile) and Estonian vocalist Laur Lindmäe (Pridian), both featured as session musicians. Galimberti's guitar and compositional work remain central throughout with a sonic identity that balances technical intensity and melodic depth.
The album title, “Inveteratus”, refers to something so deeply ingrained it has become irreversible over time—an apt metaphor for the societal and existential decay addressed in the lyrics. Though not a concept album in the traditional sense, the themes of psychological paralysis, consumerism, environmental decline and social stagnation run throughout the record. These ideas are mirrored visually in the album’s carefully constructed artwork, where symbols of time—drawn from Greek mythology—are depicted in decay: sundials shattered beneath a black sun, an inert Kairòs grounded in oil and ash and eroded infinity symbols evoking a present without past or future. Galimberti conceived and directed the entire visual and lyrical concept, emphasizing the importance of a complete listening experience—one that reclaims the value of physical music in a digital age. The album is presented in an elegant digipak CD format designed not only to complement the music but to enrich the conceptual and emotional impact of the release.
From the explosive opener “Soldier Child” to the cathartic and structurally complex closing track “Misoneism”, “Inveteratus” is an album of contrasts: speed and space, fury and introspection, dissonance and fragile clarity. The focus track “Instinction”, scheduled for the album’s release day, perfectly captures this duality—its groove-oriented riffs and ‘maidenesque’ melodic lines revealing the band’s ability to move across registers without losing cohesion or impact.
The album was mixed and mastered by Simone Mularoni at Domination Studio, ensuring a production standard that meets the expectations of modern extreme metal while allowing the nuances of the compositions to shine through. Guitars and bass were reamped at the same studio, underlining the project's attention to sonic detail and tonal clarity.
With its high artistic vision, international session lineup and stylistic breadth, “Inveteratus” is a release that will appeal to fans of Death, Slayer, Morbid Angel and Lamb Of God, while also standing out as a unique and deeply personal work. In Limine may be a new name but the maturity of this debut album places the project in direct conversation with the most compelling voices in today’s extreme metal landscape.
