You couldn’t make up a story like that! Or could you, we will probably never know for sure, but it’s a great story and the newly re-named Vic Damone went on to have a fabulous lifetime singing career. And here’s another story, he won the prize on the famed Arthur Godfrey Talent Scouts show in 1947 and then met Milton Berle backstage who secured him a night club spot which led to Vic signing a contract with Mercury Records from 1947 -1956 when he left to join Columbia.
