Jay Smith - Young Guns - CD

Singer, songwriter and guitarist from Helsingborg in the south of Sweden, well known to the Swedish audience, started performing on stage at the early age of five. Jay was the front man in several bands (Ekai's gate, El Mago and Von Benzo) when he was younger and has now continued his musical journey as a singer/ songwriter within the country and blues genre. After years of club gigs and a great fanbase in his hometown he formed the band Von Benzo together with three friends, and released a self-titled album in 2009. The single “Bad Father, Bad Son” was picked up by Swedish radio and became an underground hit. That same year, Jays girlfriend at the time sent a YouTube clip to a well known music producer and jury member of Swedish Idol and shortly thereafter Jay was contacted by the TV production team and asked to audition for the show. After discussing this sudden twist of events with his bandmates he agreed to audition. His band told him he would win and yes,
he did win Idol 2010 as the most superior winner of all times. With a much larger fanbase thanks to the widespread reach of the TV show, Jay and the band set out touring Scandinavia. Jays solo album from winning Idol "Jay Smith" (2010) sold platinum and topped Swedish music charts immediately in 2010-2011. In 2011 he released the album "Yes Kids It's True" through Sony Music with his band Von Benzo. After another year of touring, Jay decided to go solo again and released the album “King of Man” in 2013 through Gain /Sony Music. With this more bluesy album Jay was on the right track to reach his roots. The first single "God Damn You" from the upcoming album “Young Guns” only existed as a live version on YouTube at first and became extremely popular. This led to numerous requests from his fans who wanted the song to be recorded and released and has since been gold awarded. The new album also includes the already released singles ”Ten Feet Off the Ground", "Let My Heart Go", "My Everything" and "Closing Time” and several new unreleased songs.
