Born and raised in rural Victoria, Nick Cave studied art in Melbourne before fronting The Birthday Party, one of the city's leading post-punk bands, in the late 1970s. Nick Cave then formed The Bad Seeds in 1983. Later described as one of rock's "most redoubtable, enduring" bands. The Bad Seeds continue to this day as Cave’s regular band on many of his albums and in concert.
