At once forlorn yet uplifting ‘Dypet’ marks a natural progression of Eriksen’s ongoing evolution as a songwriter with a continued push for new ideas \u0026amp; sounds, whilst retaining the essence of Mork’s foundation in ice cold hypnotic black metal.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe inspiration \u0026amp; concept for the title track itself (\u0026amp; cover art) involves a twist on the Cthulhu Mythos by H.P. Lovecraft; in this instance turned into a Norwegian scenario where there is a cult on the coast that has worshipped “Draugen” (A mythical sea ghost in Norwegian lore) for generations. The rest of the tracks explore themes of death, betrayal, hate, inner demons \u0026amp; misanthropy, all finely woven into the album’s dynamically grim fabric.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e‘Dypet’ was once more performed, recorded \u0026amp; mixed by Eriksen himself, with engineering assisted by Freddy Holm \u0026amp; with mastering carried out by Jack Control at Enormous Door (Darkthrone).
