Totaling 40 minutes, WHISPER’s two EPs provide a mystical, magickal landscape for adventurous listeners to freely roam. The band’s base foundation is indeed prog and traditional metal – going from Diamond Head and Iron Maiden to Blue Öyster Cult and Asia, Demon and Mercyful Fate to even Opeth and Hallas – but with especial emphasis on cleaner-toned melodies and spacey vintage synths, Whisper \/ Liminal Spaces works its spell immediately even as the prodigous chops and epic song structures dazzle the senses.
