  • Description

Gary Numan burst on to the scene at the end of the 1970s as one of the most distinctive figures in British music, earning chart-topping success, critical recognition and a fiercely devoted following. Rising from the ashes of Tubeway Army, he helped pioneer synth pop and drove it into the mainstream, forging a career that has endured for decades. His influence remains woven through modern electronic and alternative music.
First up on DISC 1 is Numan’s incendiary show at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney, Australia, on 31 May 1980. Recorded a year after his debut album The Pleasure Principle in 1979 and just months before Telekon, the utterly commanding performance finds him at the height of his critical and commercial powers.
DISC 2 features Numan’s set in North Carolina at Moogfest 2016 on 20 May, performing The Pleasure Principle in full alongside a handful of bonus tracks. A lap of honour of sorts, it finds him attacking the songs with renewed fire, transforming revered classics into something thrillingly immediate.
Closing the set on DISC 3 is Numan’s second appearance at Moogfest 2016, recorded the following day, where he delivered Telekon in its entirety. With a feverish crowd in front of him, he performs with aplomb, channeling decades of experience into a performance of power, precision and atmosphere.
