HETROERTZEN began as a solo project until Deacon D. was joined by guitarist Askväder in September 1999. After a hiatus, the band resurfaced in 2009 in Sweden with the release of their album "Exaltation Of Wisdom" on their own label, Lamech Records. This album showcases the band's strong affinity for the occult, Gnosticism, and enlightenment. With a few European tours under their belt, HETROERTZEN released the incomparable "Ain Soph Aur" in 2014, which garnered incredible responses from media worldwide thanks to its unique blend of haunting, occult-infused black death metal and captivating tenor vocals. The success of the album allowed the band to perform in North America for the first time.
Their highly anticipated new album, "Uprising of the Fallen," promises to attract legions of fans within the genre. The band comments on their evolution since the last album: "We wanted to elevate our music to a new level, pushing further and further in an increasingly intense manner, while the core concept remains the same." They describe the new album as a metaphorical progression in their musical style, representing it in its purest form while returning to their roots: the black, the extreme, the emotional, and the creeping.
The band further elaborates on the artwork for "Uprising of the Fallen": "The cover depicts a faceless angel. Fallen, renegade, in rage. This angel holds the sword of severity and the chains of forgiveness. The beast has been unleashed, and a new kingdom emerges from Chaos. The concept is inspired by the Book of Revelation (the Apocalypse of Saint John), which relates to the Fallen Star that will cleanse the dirt from the surface of the earth to elevate a new reign."
