Mutant Blast - Soulsteeler - CD

Mutant Blast plays metal thrashing death‘n’roll and operates from Southern Finland. Founded in August 2020, the band members have a long history within the Finnish metal scene, having been part of such bands as Chaos Creation, Witheria, and Waltari. Mutant Blast strives to create a harsh and distinctive sound with influences ranging from classic metal to the more extreme crunching of the 90s.
The formation of the band began with an idea from former bass player Julle to start a death’n’roll band. Julle asked Toni to play guitar, who readily agreed. Toni then brought in ES to play drums, and finally, Tomi was asked to join as a vocalist and second guitarist, a role he eagerly took on.
This collaboration marked the birth of Mutant Blast.

Mutant Blast released their first single, “Blades of Steel,” in April 2021, followed by their critically acclaimed debut EP, “Detonation,” in September / 2021. On September 6th, 2024, the band will release their new album titled "Soulsteeler." The journey has only just begun; let the metal flow and the hammer strike!
Mutant Blast’s sound can be described in five words: metal thrashing death’n’roll – and heavy! Initially, the band’s style was rooted in death’n’roll, but over time, their music has evolved to incorporate elements of thrash metal and heavy metal. The result is a fresh and unique sound that remains true to the old school metal ethos, avoiding post-metal or core influences.
The band's music is characterized by strong, memorable riffs and melodies, supported by solid songwriting.
The singles from their upcoming album are some of the shortest, yet most impactful tracks, designed to give listeners a taste of the full album’s energy and depth.
Tomi Malinen, the band’s vocalist and guitarist, composes most of the material and writes nearly all the lyrics. Toni assists with arranging songs and contributes to the composition process. Together, Tomi and Toni work on backing vocals and other intricate details to enhance their sound. The music always comes first, setting the foundation upon which lyrics and solos are built. Heavier songs often inspire heavier lyrical themes, although the music typically dictates the direction of the lyrics rather than the other way around.
