Formed in Manchester, England, in 1991, Oasis are one of the best-selling music groups of all time, having sold over 75 million records worldwide. Initially comprised of Liam Gallagher (vocals), Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs (guitar), Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan (bass guitar) and Tony McCarroll (drums), Liam’s brother – Noel Gallagher – soon joined as the group’s fifth member and the band’s chief songwriter. Oasis’ debut album Definitely Maybe (1994) became the fastest-selling debut album in British history at the time, and the follow-up album (What's the Story) Morning Glory? (1995) enjoyed equal commercial and critical success, becoming the bestselling album in the U.K. of the 1990s.
First up on DISC 1 is the set Oasis performed at Hultsfred Festival, Sweden, on 13th August 1994, hot off the success of the Definitely Maybe album that had become a worldwide phenomenon. Bonus tracks here feature from the now-infamous set the band performed at Whisky A Go Go in California 1994 the following month.
DISC 2 features Oasis’ performance at Yokohama Arena in Japan on the 5th March 2000, a month after releasing their fourth record Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants. Revered for the exceptional showmanship on stage – in particular Liam’s voice – the show has long remained a fan favourite, and is now available on this disc for all to hear in full for the first time.
Concluding the set on DISC 3 is a later-era show the band played on 4th June 2005 in Brussels. This time supporting their sixth studio album, Don’t Believe The Truth (2005), the show was a dynamic and accomplished affair that contained both newer singles and classic hits in equal measure, much to the audience’s apparent delight.
