Released in December’79, London Calling hit number 9 on the British chart; in the United States, where it was issued in January 1980, it reached number 27.
In early March 1980, the Clash took their London Calling tour to the US, and on 6th March they performed at the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, New Jersey – an infamous music venue that had originally opened in 1921 and which, during the 1970s and 1980s, had become a regular stop on many rock band’s tours.
