Two years after Void Of An Era, Alta Rossa are back with A Defiant Cure. Between massive riffs, dark atmospheres and moments as cathartic as they are apocalyptic, this is an oppressive journey in which only hope and rage are the keys to a more virtuous future. It's a sonic experience that finds its essence in cold, violent post-metal infused with the darkness and melancholy of raw sludge.

Where its predecessor was intended as a brutal reaction to the emptiness of its time, A Defiant Cure symbolises the fact that all despair can be tamed, saturated and sublimated, that all obscurantism can be vanquished with the help of a common, shapeless and unpredictable rebellion. For Alta Rossa, this second album is more optimistic, as if to mark an evolution in mentalities and the rage to get out of it. Its ten tracks attack what we all accept as normality, a banality of evil that imposes itself to the detriment of complex thinking and a rich, elusive world. An intellectual struggle echoed by the Italian philosopher Antonio Gramsci: ‘The old world is dying, the new world is slow in appearing, and in this chiaroscuro monsters emerge’.
