Based on the story and characters of Damon Runyon, with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, the world-famous show follows a pair of gamblers who hit the Great White Way. It features classic numbers such as “Luck Be a Lady”, “I’ve Never Been in Love Before” and “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat”. The Bridge Theatre staging features seating wrapped around the action while the immersive tickets transport audiences to the streets of Manhattan and the bars of Havana. The current cast is led by Daniel Mays (Line of Duty) as Nathan Detroit, Andrew Richardson (A Call to Spy) as Sky Masterson, Celinde Schoenmaker (The Light in the Piazza) as Sarah Brown, Marisha Wallace (Waitress) as Miss Adelaide and Cedric Neal (Back to the Future) as Nicely-Nicely Johnson. The original Broadway production opened at the 46th Street Theatre in November 1950, running 1,200 performances before closing November 28, 1953. Among the premiere cast were Robert Alda as Sky Masterson, Isabel Bigley as Sarah Brown, Sam Levene as Nathan Detroit, and Vivian Blaine as Miss Adelaide. Blaine re-created her role for the 1955 film, which also starred Marlon Brando as Sky Masterson, Jean Simmons as Sarah Brown, and Frank Sinatra as Nathan Detroit.
