Formed in 1987 in Mulhouse, Mercyless is considered pioneers of the French metal scene. Their first vinyl appearances were in 1990 with the EP "Vomiting Nausea" and "Without Christ" on the compilation "Total Virulence." In 1992, they signed with the English label Vinyl Solution and released their first album "Abject Offering," produced by Colin Richardson, which received support from the European press. The following year, Century Media released their second album "Coloured Funeral." Despite mixed reviews, they embarked on two European tours with bands like Death, Anacrusis, Morgoth, Unleashed, Tiamat, and Samael. In 1995, they added a keyboard and took a new musical direction with darker tracks. After some compilation appearances, in 1997, they released "C.O.L.D" with Thunder Productions, but dissatisfied with the label, they withdrew it from the market. In 1999, they re-released "C.O.L.D" with Impact Records and released a new album "Sure to Be Pure," distributing it in Europe, Asia, Australia, and the United States.
