CRESCENT was formed in 1998 by Ismaeel Attallah and Amr Mokhtar in Cairo, Egypt. The band initially started with Black Metal influenced by the Swedish Black Metal scene. Their first demo, "Dreamland," was released in 1999, making CRESCENT one of the oldest metal bands in North Africa. In the following years, CRESCENT shifted towards a more melodic Black/Death Metal style, infused with a vicious touch of old-school death metal. This blend of influences is prominently featured in their 2009 EP, "The Retribution."
In 2014, the band released their debut album, "Pyramid Slaves," which draws on the history and mythology of ancient Egypt, marking a transformation in CRESCENT's musical style towards their unique Egyptian-infused Black/Death Metal. They began performing at major metal festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Inferno Metal Festival, and Fall of Summer Festival.
Their highly anticipated second album, "The Order Of Amenti," leans towards a darker atmosphere while retaining the essence of Egyptian Death Metal. "The Order Of Amenti" pays tribute to the ancient Egyptian gods, showcasing the band's contribution to Egypt and metal as they have always intended. The album is rooted in Egyptian mythology, reflecting the divine nature of the attributes of the ancient gods, both in lyrics and music, which resonate with contemporary society. This marks the pinnacle of CRESCENT's development. With strong press responses and stunning live performances, CRESCENT is now a band to watch in the black/death metal scene.
