EXTRAORDINARY ELVIS COSTELLO BROADCAST FROM THE 1991 TOUR
In May 1991, Elvis Costello released 'Mighty Like A Rose', which featured the single ‘The Other Side Of Summer’, and was Elvis’ 13th studio album. In the wake of the album’s release, Costello toured with the Rude 5, featuring an ever-changing line up that generally featured old flame Pete Thomas behind the drumkit.
Within a week of Mighty’s... release the entourage were on the US West Coast, with Elvis and Pete backed by Marc Ribot on lead guitar, Jerry Scheff on bass and tuba, and Larry Knechtel on keyboards – all of whom had also performed on the record.
On 25th May the band played at the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbra, where they played a stunning show which was recorded for live FM radio broadcast along Southern California. Playing the lion’s share of the new record alongside a healthy stew of Costello oldies and classics, this concert is now available in its entirety on this double LP.
