Jamie Lenman is a revered performer and recording artist of some twenty years standing, hailed as one of the most influential underground musicians of the past two decades. As singer and guitarist for post-hardcore legends Reuben, he spent the noughties touring relentlessly with bands like Biffy Clyro and Billy Talent whilst releasing a trio of classic albums, all of which have been subject to numerous reissues and anniversary editions. 10 years after its first release, Jamie Lenman is releasing Muscle Memory on vinyl for the first time! Made up of 2 LPs and complete with a massive 19 track bonus CD, all completely remixed and remastered, this is the perfect addition to any fans collection. “I was never supposed to have a solo career, but then Muscle Memory just sort of happened and it kicked off ten years of records and touring. It was just supposed to be a fun project that would give me and Sean a reason to hang out, like two buddies fixing up an old car or something,” says Lenman. “There was no budget, no deadline, and of course it quickly spiralled out of control. I think it’s pretty obvious that I was going through a kind of crisis at the time, but the result is fascinating and I’m very proud of it.” For the original release in 2013, Lenman recorded so many songs he didn’t know what to do with them all. Now armed with an extra 19 songs, the man has had the chance to dive back in and revisit some never before heard personal favourites. “I only make records so I can come back ten years after the fact and play everyone all the little extras – it’s my favourite part! We recorded so many songs for Muscle Memory and not all of them were right for the album – some of them went on charity compilations, some of them were re-recorded for other projects, but Smash, Stab And Burn has never been heard so I’m chuffed to bits people can hear that now. Then there’s alternative takes, acoustic versions from radio appearances, all that kind of interesting stuff that fans can really get stuck into. The bonus disc is worth the cover price alone!” The re-released album news comes just in time for two very special shows Jamie Lenman will be performing in London, re-worked and re-imagined on piano at St Johns Church in
Waterloo on 4th November.
