AVALAND was founded in 2020 by Adrien G. Gzagg with the ambition to create a true metal opera, merging power, heavy and symphonic metal within a continuous high fantasy saga. Joined by Jeff Kanji, Lucas Martinez, Camille Souffron, and Léo Mouchonay, the band quickly established a theatrical and narrative identity rooted in worldbuilding.
Their debut album Theater of Sorcery (2021) introduced Avaland’s orchestral and operatic approach. The Legend of the Storyteller (2023) expanded the lore and solidified the band’s signature style, followed by the live release The Legend Comes Alive (2025), showcasing the project’s immersive stage dimension.
With their third studio album Chemical Poetry (2026), produced by Joost van den Broek (Epica, Powerwolf, Sabaton, Ayreon, Blind Guardian) and with guests as Tom Englund (Evergrey), Helle Bohdanova (IGNEA), Marcela Bovio (Stram Of Passion)... AVALAND enters Chapter 4 of their saga. The record delves deeper into the mythology of Atlandia and the Wilstorm lineage, further refining the band’s blend of epic metal, orchestral grandeur, and theatrical storytelling.
Inspired by tabletop RPGs and developed through monthly lore chapters on World Anvil, Avaland invites listeners into a universe where each album marks a new milestone in an ever expanding legend.
