Tim Armstrong (vocals, guitar), Matt Freeman (bass, vocals), Lars Frederiksen (vocals, guitar), and Branden Steineckert (drums) are back with their ninth studio album… Trouble Maker. Born during the economic crisis of the post-Reagan era in the San Francisco Bay Area, Rancid emerged when Armstrong and Freeman relocated after the end of their first band, Operation Ivy. Rancid took up the torch as a local band and immediately ignited the revival punk community, signaling great things to come. After witnessing the "American Dream" deteriorate and become obsolete for their country, community, and city, Rancid chose to address its consequences through their songs. While their lyrics continue to elevate their identities within punk rock, their music incorporates horns, rockabilly bass lines, reggae rhythms, and gritty distortion. Telling their personal tales of love gone wrong and heartbreak, Rancid has built a whole community around them. Over the past two decades, the members of Rancid have recognized their changing environment and found a new place within it, all while maintaining their individuality as well as their identity as a band.
