Dark Rock heavyweights SCHÖNGEIST are ushering in a new dawn of German Metal, with their fourth album, ‘SCHWARZ VOR AUGEN’. They do not shy away from socio-critical debates and explore these with a burning passion, as on their single ‘FAKE NEWS’. 10 new tracks have been written, as the result of a lengthy creative process. A process which on one hand demonstrates SCHÖNGEIST’s immense strength and on the other hand documents their ever evolving artistic development and showcases the full potential of this band. Aesthetics lie at the heart of this project according to SCHÖNGEIST’s founding member and lead singer Timur Karakus. ‘SCHWARZ VOR AUGEN’ is an album primed to to spark inspiration, set a benchmark and broaden horizons, whilst simultaneously capturing the innate beauty of musical creation. Diverse genres flow into one another without barriers and are guided solely by the demand for musical aesthetics. Karakus states, “The creation process began many years ago together with one of our best mates Alexander Wessselsky from the band Eisbrecher. Inspired by the mood and zeitgeist, we began to compose ideas and hooklines from the gut and to write lyrics that were not born out of compulsion but out of pure lust and love for music.” SCHÖNGEIST have never sounded so diverse and have proved themselves heralds of the new age of German Dark Rock.
