The idea behind "Liber de Morbis" was to pay homage to old school death metal, but not just replicate the old tropes of a particular style.
Old school death being a much larger genre than it seems, the tribute couldn't just imitate the Florida scene or the Swedish scene, as has been done so much.
Liber de Morbis acts as a catalog of what death metal of the 80s and 90s could have been: from Progeria which borrows from the West American scene (SADISTIC INTENT),
to Septis, which refers more to the Finnish scene (ABHORRENCE, FUNEBRE), passing through the heaviness of Rage inspired by the Pittsburgh scene (DERKETA, ROTTREVORE),
all coated in the putrid and raw style of an AUTOPSY or a REPULSION.
Rather than doing historical reconstruction, TEMPLE OF WORMS chooses to take old school death metal in its entirety.
From heaviness to speed, from bad luck to dismemberment, in short.
On the lyrical side, Crowdead has a fairly minimalist approach to writing, to stick to the brutality and violence of his voice.
The album is a concept album on diseases, a theme chosen before the pandemic and which was confirmed given the setbacks that it generated in the recording process.
The album has been mixed by Nattewolf of BLIGHTMASS, in several sessions since January 2020.
The entire visual aspect was designed by Nostra de MALEPESTE. He was able to brilliantly illustrate the concept of the album, because the group has a visual identity halfway between TERRORIZER, CARCASS and GENERAL SURGERY.
