THE CHARIOT are true artists who avoid formulas. The noisy, rambling, shambling, Southern-fried, punk-infused, heavy metal hardcore band has long rejected the conventions of the genre that surrounds them by refusing to conform to established structures. THE CHARIOT’s sound and presentation owe more to REFUSED, NIRVANA or even the SEX PISTOLS in spirit and vibe than the formulaic processed sounds of their contemporaries. The burgeoning “Noisecore” movement of the late ‘90s and early ‘00s (CONVERGE, ISIS, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN) influenced them as well. THE CHARIOT were founded by former Norma Jean frontman Josh Scogin in 2003 in the US town of Douglasville, Georgia. Their fifth full length “One Wing” now embarks on a wonderfully strange journey far beyond any stylistic boundaries. “One Wing” is the closest the Americans come yet to capturing their kinetic energy and boundless creativity for posterity.
