The Red Crayola were a band at the very cutting edge of psychedelic music and have been described as the “notorious self-styled bastard sons of the hippie dream”. They broke boundaries, unleashed a free-form anti rock noise on unsuspecting audiences and took to the stage with an experimental ensemble called The Familiar Ugly - all this in conservative 1967 Houston. The band's two albums for IA have been remastered by Pete Kember aka Sonic Boom (Spaceman 3) who recently produced albums for MGMT and Panda Bear. This 7-inch single is pressed on yellow vinyl and features an exclusive Sonic Boom remix of the classic 'Hurricane Fighter Plane', done for this release, while b-side is taken from 'The Parable Of Arable Land' album available in deluxe 2-CD and 2-LP editions. Originally released for Record Store Day, these are the last remaining copies of a limited edition run (only 2000 copies worldwide) and come packaged in International Artists' house bag. Devoted fan Kember considers The Red Crayola the greatest and yet least recognised of the 1960s experimenters and visionaries.
