Tikom - Conscience - LP

  • Description

"Conscience," the debut album by Tikom, is a grand celebration, an intoxicating ode. The album responds to the urgency to awaken and live freely, echoing our drive for happiness and love. It invites us to embrace the present moment fully and awaken our need to exist. The album also reflects on the human condition, sociability, community, and consciousness. It encourages self-awareness, self-acceptance, and a deeper connection with life and its dimensions. Consciousness helps us think globally, interact with our surroundings, and recognize that life is a web connecting us all. This continual awakening can be as simple as marveling at a butterfly or experiencing emotions without labeling them as good or bad, as they are all teachers and paths to healing. Thierry Epiney, the creator of Tikom, aimed to infuse his music with a vertical dimension. He met with six shamans and recorded their chants during ceremonies. Two of the shamans, Maria and Alberto, from the Shipibo people, visited Switzerland from the Peruvian Amazon for the first time. He also recorded three musicians playing various ethnic instruments. The composition process, requiring extensive research, took a year. The result is a unique blend of meticulously produced electro, shamanic voices, and reimagined ethnic instruments, creating an authentic and colorful sonic fresco. Unlike the festive approach of his previous project "Alchimiste," "Conscience" introduces a slower, deeper, and more natural creative rhythm, moving away from the musical fast food imposed by streaming platforms—a form of musical downshifting. "Conscience" is a comprehensive artistic work that includes shamanic chants, serving as a portal to self-discovery and an initiatory process of humility and exploration. It can be experienced as a vast luminous introspection or a dreamlike, hypnotic dance, seeking moments of extra lucidity or sensory disconnection.
