Originally released in 2009 and 2011 respectively, ÁRSTÍÐIR's first two albums 'Árstíðir’ and ‘Svefns og vöku skil’ offer atmospheric, hauntingly beautiful songs that take elements of folk, rock, and classical music among other styles, which are arranged into new patterns that have invited comparison with RADIOHEAD, SIMON & GARFUNKEL, PENTANGLE, ÓLAFUR ARNALDS, and most of all SIGUR RÓS. The latter happens perhaps inevitably due to superficial similarities as ÁRSTÍÐIR often sing in their native Icelandic tongue and use acoustic instruments extensively. ‘Svefns og vöku skil’ reached the #1 spot in Icelandic music charts. Both albums are now available again on Digipak CDs, black LPs, and coloured vinyl editions limited to 250 copies each.
