Artist History (i.e. specific narratives, international support, accolades, etc.): Amanda Marshall is a Certified Diamond artist and Juno Award–winning pop-rock singer and songwriter. She has released four studio albums; her self-titled debut went Diamond in Canada and has sold more than six million copies worldwide. She is one of only six Canadian women to ever reach Diamond status, and the only one to achieve it with her debut album — a milestone that secures her place in Canadian music history. Discovered as a teenager by Jeff Healey, Marshall honed her craft on stage in blues clubs, developing her distinctive mix of rock, blues, and pop. Her second and third albums, Tuesday’s Child and Everybody’s Got a Story, were certified 3x Platinum and Platinum respectively. She is best known for her singles “Birmingham,” which reached #3 in Canada and broke into the U.S. charts, as well as “Let It Rain,” “Dark Horse,” and “Believe in You.” Marshall’s second album took her around the world opening for Whitney Houston, who personally invited her to join the tour after hearing it. Over her career she has earned 14 Juno nominations. In 2023, after a decades-long legal battle with her former manager, Marshall released her first studio album in over 20 years. Heavy Lifting was celebrated as one of Canadian music’s great comebacks, leading to a sold-out national tour that included two nights at Toronto’s Massey Hall. In 2024 she won the Juno Award for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year for Heavy Lifting, which she co-produced herself.
