AnthenorA are an Italian heavy/power metal band formed in 1989 in Saluzzo, near Cuneo. Founded by Luigi “Gigi” Bonansea, Stefano “Pooma” Pomero and Fabio “Smaro” Smareglia, the band’s name is inspired by “Antenora” from Dante’s Divine Comedy. After releasing their first demos in the 1990s, they became one of Italy’s leading Iron Maiden tribute acts between 1998 and 2002, later serving as backing band for Nicko McBrain’s clinic tours from 2002 to 2004. With releases such as The Last Command, Soulgrinder, The Ghosts Of Iwo Jima, Mirrors And Screens and the EP Need, AnthenorA have built a classic, powerful and direct sound rooted in the European heavy metal tradition.
