Cloud Cuckoo Land is a project that has been in the making since 2010, with its first single, "Give Up The Ghost," released in 2013. It wasn't until seven years later that the collaboration between Mélusine Fradet (vocals) and Guillaume Bernard (guitarist of KLONE) finally came to fruition. This artistic intimacy has given rise to CLOUD CUCKOO LAND, a term that signifies an excessively optimistic idealism as well as an imaginary place between heaven and earth. "Somewhere In Between" embodies a concept with multiple layers of meaning: the boundary, the in-between, the limit. The perspective taken by Guillaume and Mélusine seems to explore that magical and fascinating sensory space between dreams and wakefulness, imagination and reality, darkness and light, perfectly expressed through delicate and sensitive songwriting.

CLOUD CUCKOO LAND invites listeners to ascend into the higher atmospheric layers where Mélusine's celestial voice can resonate freely, and where Guillaume's chords find their deepest echo. Known for his ability to craft subtle and elegant melodic themes within KLONE, Guillaume creates enveloping textures with a minimalist approach—‘Small Steps,’ for instance, could easily fit on "Here Comes The Sun." The true revelation here is Mélusine Fradet, whose presence and vocal charisma align with the legacy of KATE BUSH. As the tenth daughter of Zeus and Mnemosyne, Mélusine captivates and shines in every performance. Nature has generously bestowed upon her a divine breath, allowing her the freedom to express the full range of her elegiac songs within the framework provided by Guillaume.

She transcends and illuminates the refined architectures of sound—ascending in ‘Back To The Wall,’ cyclical in ‘Under The Skin’—and the gentle tones played by Guillaume, which range from folk in ‘Hope Is Gone’ to darker shades in ‘Molpee's Song’ and ‘Down Of Time,’ and crystalline in ‘The Key To Feelin,’ as well as ethereal in ‘Behind The Old Master.’ With simple arpeggios and atmospheric soundscapes, she brings richness and complexity through her harmonic modulations, intonations, and emotional interpretations. Listening to this original and truly admirable "Somewhere In Between," one can sense the undeniable chemistry between the musician and his muse. The immersion into this debut album is immediate, and the unique universe it creates fully envelops the listener in a succession of gentle moments with soothing melodies.
