Released quietly in 2015, this debut effort from our Belgian neighbors, DRAWN INTO DESCENT, leans more towards the sounds of LANTLOS and AMESOEURS than towards brutal and vengeful black metal. The atmospheres here are more ethereal and melancholic, with a raspy voice reminiscent of BURZUM adding that touch of depression so beloved by our friends under medication. The sound is clear without being perfect, gritty just enough for this style of black metal, and precise enough to savor all the nuances of a music rich in emotions.
