When Khoma emerged in the early 2000s, they did so with the force of a Tsunami (2004). With The Second Wave (2006), the Umeå-based collective made the leap from the independent DIY-underground to Roadrunner Records - home to genre-defining acts such as Korn, Slipknot, Sepultura and Turnstile.
The album was met with overwhelming national and international acclaim, and in Sweden it came to be regarded as one of the most important rock and metal releases of its decade. Yet, despite this recognition, Khoma maintained a deliberate low-profile, turning them into a well-kept secret amongst critics and those in the underground scene.
Now, twenty years on, this landmark record is finally given the treatment it deserves. Its timelessness remains striking, underscoring how far ahead of their time Khoma truly were: a record that could just as easily have been released today, with the same urgency, honesty and impact it carried in the mid 2000s.
