Released in 2000, third wave ska band Less Than Jake took the bold steps on Borders and Boundaries. With producer Steve Kravacat helm, the album leans into skate-pop punk more than any previous album. A polarizing release initially (some critics wrote about wanting more horns and more "major label" sellouts, although the band being back with an indie-label). Punknewscalled the album "underrated." Though Canada's Chart Attack & Germanys' Rock Hard & Ox-Fanzine would disagree. As would UK's Downed in Sound giving the album a perfect 10/10 and writing "every song is so darn catchy". 25 years later, Borders and Boundaries is now is the band's best selling and most popular release. The 25thAnniversary edition includes five previously unreleased demos and new mix of "Is this Thing on?" by Tom Lord-Alge (a.m.o. Sum 41 ("Fat Lip"), Sevendust ("Waffle") und Angels & Airwaves ("The Adventure") plus Weezer, Blink 182 etc.)
