Loathe has been making waves in the British underground metal scene since their formation in 2014. With two EPs and their debut studio album already putting them on the map, the band has even been nominated for Best New Band at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods and British Breakthrough Act at the Heavy Music Awards. Their spectacular live performances, intense, visceral, and multimedia-driven, have set them apart as a group with ambitions that far exceed those of their peers. Now, with the release of their second album, I Let It In and It Took Everything, those ambitions are beginning to take shape.
A multitude of diverse influences fuels Loathe's creative fire—some expected, others seemingly unimaginable for a band with such a sharp sound. Radiohead and The 1975 serve as two cornerstones in Loathe's musical approach, not only in terms of sound but also in their desire to be a band that does exactly what they want, shaping an audience ready to follow them into deep and daring experimentation. This is complemented by specific influences from other realms: the soundtrack of the survival horror video game Silent Hill 2 (2001), the menacing and unsettling aura of 2019's divisive film Joker, and the entire body of work by the master of psychedelic filmmaking, David Lynch.
