If we were to compare King's Disease III to its two predecessors, this third installment successfully captures the neoclassical atmosphere of the first while allowing room for the experimentation that defined the second. However, where King's Disease III truly stands out in Nas's discography is in its ability to immerse the listener in the rapper's world, rather than trying to fit into what it perceives to be the current musical zeitgeist. While the debate over his best album has been settled since 1994, several other records can still vie for the second spot. King's Disease III is certainly among them – and that’s ultimately all we can ask of Nas in 2022.
