After the acclaimed "From This Ground, From This Sea," Queen(Ares) unveils the next chapter in their discography. Blending post-metal, doom, atmospheric melodies, and dystopian vibes, Queen(Ares) pays tribute to their roots and the mining basin. The central idea for this album emerged during a residency at the stunning Métaphone in Oignies, surrounded by slag heaps and winding towers, where the theme of the proletariat naturally took shape. This is perfectly illustrated by "Black Corridor," the first single, which you can discover below through a live recording interspersed with scripted moments.
"CHOICES" features a raw, unembellished production that connects hazy floating moments with the harshness of dark, gritty post-hardcore. An oppressive, dissonant atmosphere envelops the listener, where the two voices of the project merge into a single distorted hydra. However, these seven tracks also allow the quartet to explore a more melodic universe, occasionally infused with folk or new wave accents. The album addresses themes of humanity's place among its peers, the superiority of elements beyond our control, and the impact of human hands on the world and ourselves.
