A pervasive and disorienting sense of insecurity affects most people we know, yet results in alienation. Our hope for a future erodes into anxious short-termism.

Not your 20th century proletariat, the precariat lacks wage identity or the security of a reliable outcome. Rentier capitalism, the rise of technofascism, and global trends in the direction of authoritarianism felt hard to ignore as we went into making our first record. That, amongst general existential threats, like love, and being a woman.

Precarity felt an appropriate phrase for the way we’ve been feeling, the way it feels to be on this planet lately, and the urgencies faced by those without our privilege – the time and space to write about it.

Precarity comes from the French précaire "granted or exercised only with the permission of another, insecure, uncertain" of the Latin root, precarius "given as favor, uncertain, obtained by prayer”

We present to you, with faith in its future, The Precariat.
