London's Soho has a rich history tied to The Blue Beat Label. In the beginning record shops, such as those historically on or near Oxford Street/Berwick Street, were crucial distribution hubs where fans could get their hands on rare imports and The Blue Beat Label 45s. It was also the home of various live music clubs where the music thrived and broke through to youth culture establishing "Blue Beat" as both a record label and a generic term for early ska. "Blue Beat" singles became a staple of the Soho Mod scene laying the foundational rhythm that inspired the 2-Tone and punk movements too.
The upbeat, danceable rhythms led the way for the youth at the time and continues to this day.
