Since 2018, USQUAM has been forging an intense “blackened metal”, fusing the essences of black, death, doom and post-metal. In this universe where violence rubs shoulders with melancholy, the band weaves a sonic canvas reminiscent of the works of Behemoth, Naglfar and Dark funeral or Anorexia nervosa. French, Latin and English, the lyrics transcend linguistic barriers to explore the depths of the human soul. Each word becomes a vehicle for emotion and introspection, even an existential quest. After their first EP, “Reborn”, released in 2021 on Wormholedeath records, USQUAM is preparing to unveil their new album, “Ex Nihilo”, due for release on January 31, 2025 on Source Atone Records. This album marks a turning point in the evolution of their compositions and production, with writing that is both more varied and more disturbing. The arrival of Jessy Christ on vocals also breathes a new dimension into the USQUAM universe. Her voice, rich in a thousand shades of rage and flawless control, is a one-way journey into the abyss and madness. Mixed by Frédéric Gervais at Studio Henosis, the album bears witness to USQUAM's ambition to broaden its horizons while remaining true to its black essence.
